Arraignment Postponed in Ferrari Manslaughter Case

Authorities say Luicci Nader, 19, was driving recklessly on PCH and caused a crash that killed his cousin and injured two others.

Arraignment has been delayed in the case of a teenager accused of driving recklessly in a Ferrari  and causing a crash in Newport Beach that killed his cousin and injured two others on Christmas Eve 2009.

Luicci Nader, 19, of Huntington Beach, was expected to be arraigned on a vehicular manslaughter charge Jan. 14, but the arraignment was rescheduled for March 10, Deputy District Attorney Susan Price said.

Nader, who was 18 at the time of the crash, could face up to six years in prison if convicted of the felony charge, which includes sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury, the district attorney's office said.

Authorities say Nader and his cousin Ralph Abinader, 24, were on their way to a family Christmas party Dec. 24, 2009. Nader, according to the D.A.'s office, was driving a 2008 Ferrari recklessly on Pacific Coast Highway between Jamboree Road and Bayshore Drive at speeds of 80 to 100 mph. Abinader was in the passenger seat.

Nader lost control, authorities say, and swerved over the raised median and onto the other side of the road, crashing into a truck. The Ferrari was split into two pieces from the impact and the rear of the vehicle burst into flames, the district attorney's office said. Abinader died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Cole Putnam, 54, and his passenger, Linda Langgle, were hospitalized and suffered long-term tissue and muscle injuries, according to the D.A.'s office.

Nader was treated for major injuries, the D.A.'s office said.
