Best Bets for Brunch

Some of the hottest spots in CDM offer a great brunch.

Brunch is definitely one of my favorite meals. Unfortunately, I can only eat it on weekends, which leaves me anxious for a whole week leading up to it. I like to grab a bunch of friends, catch up on what's been going on and spend a few hours eating, gossiping and then eating again.

Here are some of the best places to enjoy brunch in Corona del Mar.

Sunday Champagne Brunch. What will I eat? At Mayur you have a huge variety of Indian favorites, including chicken tikka masala, bhartha, vegetable korma, naan bread and rice. There are starters of soup and salad and a selection of desserts like keer and ras malai. Drinks: Soft drinks and Champagne. Price: All-inclusive, $20 per person.

Weekend Breakfast. What will I eat? You choose what you want from the breakfast menu. Nothing is more than $15, which I love. I like the eggs Benedict, which comes with hash browns or a small house salad. There is also a delightful brioche French toast and build-your-own omelet. Drinks: Bottomless mimosas for $10 with the purchase of a breakfast entrée until 3 p.m. Price: Per menu item.

Sunday Brunch at the Garden. What will I eat? This cafe at Sherman Library & Gardens is one of Pascal's restaurants, so it is top-notch eats. The 4-Course Menu is a sight for those sleepy Sunday eyes. The first course has your choice of mini quiches, tarts and olives. Second course is salad, soups, smoked salmon. Main course has a mix of breakfast and lunch, with eggs Benedict, vegetarian lasagna, grilled salmon and chicken breast, and for dessert (my favorite part of any meal) chocolate mousse and assorted pastries. Drinks: Includes orange juice, coffee or iced tea.  When: Sundays, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Price: $35 per person.

Weekend Brunch. What will I eat? More like "what won't I eat?" There is so much to choose from on the Crow Bar brunch menu that you will surely have to come back more than once. Burgers, flatbreads, cheese platters, breakfast—you can mix and match your breakfast and lunch. I like the Hangover Burger, which includes nitrate-free bacon, aged cheddar and fried organic hen's egg. The house-made sourdough biscuits with duck confit gravy and breakfast burrito are also winners! Drinks: Not included, but there is a long list of beers, wines and soft drinks.  Price: Per menu item.
