Beach Candy Adds Some Bling to CDM

Tiffany takes a dive into the new sparkly swimwear boutique on Coast Highway.

I have this crazy obsession for swimwear. I own probably 30 bikinis—some with the tags still on them—in all colors and styles. I'm just waiting to shed those last 10 pounds before I start putting on a fashion show down on Little Corona Beach (I hate you, Girl Scout cookies!). Needless to say, I couldn't wait for the new Beach Candy boutique to open up in CDM earlier this month. I had no idea what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the swimsuits were and wowed by the concept.

Brit B., owner of and designer for Beach Candy Swimwear, is quite the inspiring entrepreneur. An Orange County native and graduate of Pratt Institute in New York, she knows a thing or two about luxury fashion romanced with the casual cool vibe of the O.C.

She started designing her own swimsuits four years ago because she was tired of the lack of design and detail in the current swimwear market. While on the beaches of Brazil and Miami, she found women were complimenting her on her unique designs, and she realized CDM was the perfect place to open her very own boutique.

"Corona del Mar women understand quality and appreciate the art of swimwear," she said. "Also I love the beach, and I love to work."

Being a client at Beach Candy means personalized attention in a relaxing, stress-free environment.  Trying on a "candied" swimsuit at Brit. B's boutique is meant to make you feel glamourous and comfortable in your own body, enhancing your natural features and overall just having fun.

There are plenty of colors and styles to choose from at Beach Candy, and if you can't find one from the 14 different colors and 20 different styles in the store, you can have one custom designed. Custom designs take three weeks, and all work is done on-site in the Beach Candy workroom.

"Bring in your favorite suit, and we re-create it in any color with our custom candy counter," said Brit B. The candy counter is like a sparkly Willy Wonka treasure chest of Swarovski crystals that can be custom designed to your liking. There are different styles and placements of the crystals. There is one bikini with 500 hand-sewn crystals.

Sizes range from A to DD (small being A). Prices range from $60-$80 per item without candy and $90-$450 with candy. Swimwear has gold-plated hardware that can be washed by hand and laid flat to dry. There are many different styles for all body types, including high-waisted bottoms and one-piece suits.

In addition to swimwear, Brit B. also carries a wide selection of cover-ups, hats, jewelry, scarves, beach totes, also adorned with intricate beadwork, and of course, candy.

Beach Candy boutique is a bright and fun place to shop that makes you want to start planning that trip to St. Barts sooner than later. Visit Beach Candy at 2824 E. Coast Highway.
