Slain OC Woman's Ashes Scattered Off Newport Beach

Family members and friends remember Brittany Jane Royal, of Tustin, by scattering her ashes in the waters off Newport Beach.

The ashes of a pregnant Orange County woman who was strangled in Hawaii were scattered in the waters off Newport Beach on Saturday, according to media reports.

The body of Brittany Jane Royal, 25, was found in May off the coast of Hawaii's Big Island, ABC 7 Los Angeles reported. Her ashes were scattered over the weekend in Newport Beach following a memorial service in her hometown of Tustin. Her family told ABC 7 the ocean was where she enjoyed spending her time.

Royal's 22-year-old boyfriend, Boaz Johnson, was reportedly camping with Royal before she was murdered. He is missing and was named as a suspect by police, according to Hawaii News Now.

Royal's family said she moved to Hawaii to teach yoga.
