Community Corner

Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The OCC Recycling Center, the Costa Mesa Sanitary
District and OC Waste & Recycling are sponsoring a free community “drive-in
and drive-out” household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, May 10.

Anyone can drop off unwanted items without leaving their
vehicle from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on campus in Parking Lot C, at Fairview
Road and Merrimac Way.

 “It’s fast and
easy,” reported Mike Carey, director of the campus Recycling Center. Typically hard-to-dispose-of
items that will be accepted include used motor oil, antifreeze, batteries
(including home and car), cleaning products, pesticides, herbicides, paint,
paint thinner, pool chemicals, fuels, polishes, wax and medicines.
