The US Coast Guard Auxiliary's Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) course is a comprehensive course designed for both the experienced and the novice boater.  The course consists of 8 core required lessons plus five elective lessons, providing up-to-date knowledge for handling boats in all conditions.
USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 61 (formerly Fl. 27),  the second oldest flotilla in USCG District 11-SR (1954), is the only Orange County flotilla that teaches all 13 lessons of the BS&S course.  BS&S (updated, of course) has been offered by this flotilla, on Wednesday evenings, at the Newport Harbormaster's, for decades.  Nine volunteer auxiliary-trained instructors, and their aides, share their boating knowledge with their students.  Since we teach BS&S three times each year (winter, spring and fall), you can join the class at any time and continue on with the next session.
