105th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade - the
nation's longest running lighted holiday boat parade - celebrates its 105th
year this year. Set to run from December 18-22, 2013, from 6:30-9:00 p.m.
nightly, the parade is free to watch and will feature more than 100 decorated
and lighted boats making their way along a 14-mile parade route through
scenic Newport Harbor. Since 1908, boat owners in Newport Beach have
"decked the hulls" of their seagoing vessels and seaside homes
for the parade, which draws more than one million spectators each year. Boats
ranging from kayaks to yachts will be decorated to the parade's 'Rockin'
Around the Christmas Tree' theme in lights, sounds, and holiday decor.
Boats compete for awards in a variety of categories, including 'Best Humor and
Originality' and 'Best Lights and Animation.' Additionally, parade
attendees and visitors can view nearly 100 beautiful Newport Harbor bay-front
homes as they compete for the best decorated house in the annual "Ring of
Lights" competition. These stunning homes submit their holiday decor to
win prizes in different categories. On December 22 at 9:00 p.m., there will be
a spectacular fireworks show to showcase this community tradition. For
more information, please call the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce at (949)
729-4400 or visit www.christmasboatparade.com.
