Plant of the Week: Dahlias

There is a favorite dahlia for everyone at Sherman Gardens.

We have gotten in the habit of growing dahlias every summer at Sherman Library and Gardens.

It's a kin to an addiction and if you think I am exaggerating check this out. These dazzling flowers have been hybridized to grow in all shapes, sizes, forms, and colors. We have a relatively modest collection of dahlias compared to serious collectors and exhibitors. However; almost every morning we stand in the sun garden trying to decide which color or individual blossom is our favorite of the day.

This decision may only last long enough to find one we like even more! Come by and decide for yourself. As summer grows on, the dahlias will soon be six feet tall with many more blooms.

You may even find one as big as your head! Stop by and check them out today.
