Water Spout Seen off Newport Beach

Did you see the water spout reported at about 10:45 a.m in Newport Beach? Upload your pictures to this gallery.

At least one water spout was spotted along the Orange County coast today, but the storm moved on and forecasters expect sunny skies through this weekend.

"There's been a few water spouts and heavy showers parallel to most of
the Orange County coast line,'' said National Weather Service meteorologist

Mike Watkins. "Everything's dissipating this afternoon. It should be a nice
sunny weekend.''

Newport Beach lifeguard John Moore snapped a picture of a water spout
about 10:45 a.m.

"We didn't have any significant winds, but there was one small squall
that left us with a lot of rain,'' Moore said. "Other than that, it's been
pretty normal and we had one water spout about three and a half to four miles
off shore.''

A surfing class was in the water when the spout was spotted, but they
got back to the beach quickly, Moore said. More expert surfers stayed in the
water, he added.
