At least one water spout was spotted along the Orange County coast today, but the storm moved on and forecasters expect sunny skies through this weekend.
"There's been a few water spouts and heavy showers parallel to most of
the Orange County coast line,'' said National Weather Service meteorologist
sunny weekend.''
Newport Beach lifeguard John Moore snapped a picture of a water spout
about 10:45 a.m.
"We didn't have any significant winds, but there was one small squall
that left us with a lot of rain,'' Moore said. "Other than that, it's been
pretty normal and we had one water spout about three and a half to four miles
off shore.''
A surfing class was in the water when the spout was spotted, but they
got back to the beach quickly, Moore said. More expert surfers stayed in the
water, he added.
