Suspicious Package Found at Newport Dunes Resort

An envelope found at Newport Dunes Resort had white powder inside, but authorities tested it and said it was "harmless."

A suspicious package containing white powder found Thursday at Newport Dunes Resort, was tested and determined to be "harmless," according to a report in the Orange County Register.

At about 10 a.m., a letter carrier noticed an envelope that said "Newport Beach police," and alerted employees who called authorities, the Register reported. An Orange County bomb squad and hazardous material team responded to the scene to test the white powder found in the envelope.
 
According to the newspaper, the white powder was determined to be "harmless."
