Steve Jobs Memorial at Fashion Island's Apple Store

Wednesday's passing of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple and its former CEO, has left lovers of the iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, saddened today and wondering how the world of technology will change in his absence.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," read a statement by Apple's board of directors.

Jobs, 56, was instrumental in many of the inventions and institutions of the last three decades. From the iPod, the iPad and the iPhone to the animation studio Pixar, Jobs invested time and money into success after success.
