Special Olympics Torch Run, a Financial Forum, an Emergency-Alert Test

The five things you need to know for June 2.

1. Today at 10 a.m. the Newport Beach Police Department will participate in the Southern California Special Olympics Torch Run. Each year the torch is carried through cities along Pacific Coast Highway to raise money for athlete expenses and program activities. Newport Beach's leg of the run will begin at Newport Coast Drive and continue along Pacific Coast Highway and up Dover Drive, where it is handed off to members of the Costa Mesa Police Department.

2. Today from 3-5 p.m., professional money manager Jerry Slusiewicz will host a financial seminar at the OASIS Senior Center, Room 4, 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar. The seminar is free, and registration is not required.

3. Don't forget! The city will conduct the Outdoor Emergency Notification System test tomorrow, June 3, at noon. For test details, read our story here.
