Update: Newport Bay Reopened Following Sewage Spill

A small sewage spill closed the bay water on the south side of Lido Isle on Friday.

Health officials today lifted a water closure that was in effect for a section of Newport Bay following a small sewage spill, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program reported.

Today at 10 a.m., the agency removed Friday's water closure at the bay water area between Via Fermo and Via Firenze on the south side of Lido Isle.

It is now safe to swim and dive in the area, officials said.
