Procession of Fallen Arizona Firefighters to Travel Through Newport Beach

Cousins Grant McKee and Robert Caldwell, two of the 19 firefighters killed in an Arizona wildfire last month, will be honored Saturday with a procession and public memorial service.

A procession and public memorial service will be held this weekend to honor the lives of two firefighters from the Newport Beach area who were among the 19 who perished in the Yarnell Hill wildfire in Arizona last month.

Grant McKee, 21, who attended schools in Newport Beach, and his cousin Robert Caldwell, 23, who had ties to Costa Mesa, will be honored on Saturday, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. The procession is scheduled to begin in Costa Mesa and end at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.

Police are taking several measures to accommodate the arrival of family and attendees for the service. Temporary No Parking Zones will be posted in the vicinity of the service and temporary road closures may be enforced.

In a memo sent to residents and business owners, the Newport Beach Police Department stated, "We appreciate the community's understanding and support as we facilitate the memorial of these two brave young men who died in the service of public safety, and who had deep ties to our community."
