Update: Preliminary Hearing for Alleged Fashion Island Shooter Delayed

Marcos Sarinana Gurrola is charged with firing more than 50 rounds at Fashion Island in December.

A security guard accused of shooting more than 50 rounds at Fashion Island during the Christmas shopping season, and opening fire in the mall's parking lot on another occasion,  was scheduled to be in court Monday in Newport Beach, but the hearing was delayed, court records show.

Marcos Sarinana Gurrola, 42, of Garden Grove is scheduled to return to the Harbor Justice Center for his preliminary hearing on Aug. 29. In January Gurrola pleaded not guilty to 54 counts of shooting at an occupied building, two counts of aggravated assault and 10 counts of negligent discharge of a firearm, all felonies, with sentence-enhancing allegations for shooting a gun, stemming from two.

Along with the December mall shooting, Gurrola is accused of firing 10 rounds the afternoon of Nov. 16, 2011, at Fashion Island, according to prosecutors.
