The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor's Field of Honor is flying 1776 flags in Castaways Park as a tribute to military soldiers through Sunday.

A dedication ceremony was held Saturday at Castaways Park overlooking Newport Harbor.

"This is not a memorial but a celebration," Jerry Nininger, the event's master of ceremonies, said.

The event raises money to help wounded warriors, veterans, and active troops and their families. Donations come about from the flag dedications and yellow ribbons bearing the name of a soldier.
