The bay area from Bayside Drive Beach to Carnation Cove in Newport Bay reopened Friday following a sewage spill earlier in the week.

Health officials have lifted a water warning issued at Newport Bay following a 500 gallon sewage spill earlier this week.

The warning signs posted Wednesday by the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program from Bayside Drive Beach to Carnation Cove in Newport Bay were removed Friday. According to health officials, a blocked city sewer line resulted in 500 gallons of sewage flowing into Newport Bay.
