New Pizza Joint Opens at the Bluffs

Attention pizza lovers! Johnny’s Real New York Pizza is celebrating the opening of its second Newport Beach location today at the Bluffs shopping center. 

A grand opening will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., with a ribbon cutting by owner John Younesi, Mayor Keith Curry and City Council members at 1:30 p.m. Visitors will also be able to sample Johnny’s pizza, garlic knots and cinnamon knots.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our second Johnny’s location here at The Bluffs,” John Younesi, the restaurant’s owner, said in a released statement. “We have truly created a slice of New York here in Newport Beach, from the authenticity of our pizza and pasta with family recipes, to the upbeat energy and friendly staff. We strive to treat every patron as part of our family.”

The grand opening celebrations will include entertainment by local saxophonist Gary King, cheerleaders and band members from Corona del Mar High School, a balloon artist and face painter, a special appearance by the Newport Beach Fire Department and a lot of giveaways including the chance to win one free large pizza every week for a year.
                     
Younesi, a Newport Beach resident and local attorney, is a native of Queens, NY. He said yearned for the true New York style pizza of his youth once he came to California as a teenager.          

“I wanted to bring a taste of nostalgia to Orange County – original recipes from New York, which were being made in Sicily just two generations ago,” said Younesi. “At Johnny’s, we’re dedicated to making people happy with our pizza and customer service, while being good community partners.”           

Johnny’s at The Bluffs is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
