Security Screening Lanes Pinched at JWA

Upgrades to the airport's security screening checkpoints have resulted in the closure which begins today and will last through March.

Officials at John Wayne Airport have temporarily reduced the number of screening lanes in order to make way for upgrades to the security screening checkpoints.

As of today, some alternating lanes within Terminal A's passenger security checkpoint will be closed while crews work on updating security equipment. Jenny Wedge, airport spokeswoman, says the checkpoint itself will remain open, but departing passengers should plan ahead and give themselves 90 minutes to two hours to find parking, check luggage and go through the security checkpoint to make sure they are at their gate in time for their flight.

All security lanes are expected to reopen in March.

JWA Travel Tips:

  • Passengers flying with American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Continental, Delta or WestJet may still check in at the ticket counter in Terminal A and continue to use the passenger screening lanes in Terminal A.
  • Passengers who have boarding passes and do not need to check bags or visit the ticket counter may go directly to screening checkpoints in any of the three Terminals (A, B or C) to access any of the Terminal A, B or C gates.
  • All drop-off and pick-up locations in front of all three Terminals remain the same for visitors and passengers.
