Hoag Doctor Honored as 'Compassionate Doctor'

A neurosurgeon at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian was ranked as one of the top physicians in the country based on patient reviews, Patients' Choice reported.

Burak Ozgur, Hoag's chief of service of the Neurosurgery Spine program, was recently honored with a 2012 Compassionate Doctor Certification. According to Patients' Choice, out of the country's 870,000 active physicians, only three percent were selected for the certification.

"This is quite an honor for me. I am very pleased to have been selected and grateful to my patients who went out of their way to rate me and give me positive reviews," Ozgur said in a released statement.

About 100 million patients across the country provide feedback on their doctors every year through websites including Vitals, UCompareHealthCare and Patients' Choice. Only those physicians with near perfect overall and bedside manner scores are chosen for the Compassionate Doctor recognition.
