Update: Health Warning Lifted from Sections of Newport Beach

Bacteria levels exceeded health standards Wednesday and Thursday.

Today officials lifted health advisories that were issued this week for sections of Newport Beach, the Orange County Health Care Agency reported.

The warning signs posted Wednesday afternoon by the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program were removed Friday afternoon. According to health officials, the bacteria levels exceeded health standards on Wednesday and Thursday at the following locations:

  • Newport Beach - Lancaster Street at 61st Street at Newport Slough
  • Newport Bay - 300 feet of the middle area at Newport Dunes  
  • Newport Bay - Garnet Avenue Beach on the south side of Balboa Island

A health advisory remains in effect at Abalone Avenue Beach, on the south side of Balboa Island. The agency posts updates and signs when water warnings are necessary.
