Gourmet Food Trucks Today at Hoag Blood Drive

Brats Berlin and Calbi will be serving lunch today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hoag Health Center. On Thursday from 1 to 6:45 p.m. donors will receive a free Subway sandwich plus a 50 percent off voucher.

Local gourmet food trucks will be selling meals today -- and free Subway sandwiches will be given on Thursday -- to those who participate in a blood drive at Hoag Hospital.

Blood and platelet donations will be taken today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hoag Health Center, 500 Superior Ave. Brats Berlin will be selling Bratwurst meals and Calbi will offer Korean-Mexican fusion dishes.

On Thursday anyone who donates blood at Hoag between 1 and 6:45 p.m. will receive a free Subway sandwich plus a 50 percent off voucher for their next meal at Subway. Donations will be accepted at 510 Superior Ave., Suite 130.

Hoag spokeswoman Meghan Voisinet says the great thing about donating at the health center is that it will benefit the local community.   

"Each unit of blood donated goes directly to a patient at Hoag," she said.

One unit of blood can benefit up to three people, she said.
