Fundraiser Created for Sisters Killed in Newport Crash

A public funeral service for Robin and Aurora Christine Cabrera is scheduled for Sunday at Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary in Corona del Mar.

A fundraising website has been created for two teenage sisters who were killed alongside three of their friends in a car accident on Memorial Day.

As of Tuesday morning, the online fundraising site YouCaring.com had raised $1,578 for the family of Robin, 17, and Aurora Christine Cabrera, 16.

"Our entire family is heartbroken to lose them both so suddenly," a note on YouCaring.com reads. "No words can convey the grief and sadness that this tragic event has brought upon us all."

According to the memorial website, the Cabrera sisters were on their way to the beach to watch the sunset with their friends when they were killed in a high-speed, fiery crash on Jamboree Road in Newport Beach. Abdulrahman M. Alyahyan, 17,  Nozad Al Hamawendi, 17, and Cecilia D. Zamora,17, also perished in the fatal crash.

Funeral services for Robin and Aurora Christine Cabrera, who were students at Irvine High School, are scheduled Sunday at Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary in Corona del Mar.

The services are open to the public and will begin at 11 a.m. A memorial is scheduled at 12:30 p.m., according to a Pacific View representative.
