Save a Life, Donate Blood Today at JWA

The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.

Organizers of today's blood drive at John Wayne Airport hope passengers and the community will take the time to donate blood and help save a life.

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked on the lower/arrival level at the red curb outside of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal Administrative Offices --located at 18601 Airport Way-- from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Airport officials say donating blood is a great way to help the local community.

"Donating blood is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who are in need," said Alan Murphy, the airport's director. "We hope that all passengers and airport employees will consider participating."

The Red Cross reports every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, but only five percent of the eligible population donates blood each year. Blood collected from today's drive will be used to treat patients undergoing surgery, those with cancer, burn patients, auto accident patients and many more. One donation can save up to three lives.

If you are interested in donating, you can sign up in advance at www.givelife.org and walk-ins will also be accepted.
