Donate Blood at Hoag, Get a Free Sandwich

Blood and platelet donors will receive a free lunch Wednesday at Hoag Hospital.

Hoag Hospital is encouraging people to stop by its health center on Wednesday to help save a life and get some free lunch.

Blood donations will be taken Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hoag Health Center, 510 Superior Ave., Suite 130. Those who donate blood or platelets will receive a free Subway sandwich.

The American Red Cross reports every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, but only 5 percent of the eligible population donates blood each year. The blood type most often needed is Type O. The American Red Cross reports one donation can save up to three lives.
