Central Library Closing for Expansion

Beginning Saturday, the Newport Beach Central Library will shut down for about two weeks.

The Newport Beach Central Library will close for about two weeks as crews work on the library expansion project.

The Central Library will be closed between Saturday, March 16, through Sunday, March 31. During the closure, crews will dismantle walls, install temporary partitions, paint, replace ceiling tile, reinstall shelves and stage new furniture and fixtures.

Cynthia Cowell, library services director, said the work "should be the last major closure" before completion of the project, which is expected to be done sometime between April 15 and May 3.
