UPDATE: Health Warning Lifted from Newport Bay

Bacteria levels exceeded health standards this week.

Health officials have lifted a water warning issued for a section of Newport Bay earlier this week.

Warning signs were removed Thursday afternoon by the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program from Garnet Avenue Beach on the south side of Balboa Island. According to health officials, the bacteria levels exceeded health standards on Tuesday.

The agency posts updates and signs when water warnings are necessary.
