Alert: Lane Closures at John Wayne Airport

A seismic retrofitting project began today at JWA. Lanes on the lower level of the airport will be narrowed through September.

The roads at John Wayne Airport are a little tighter today to make way for seismic upgrades over the next several months.

According to airport officials, a handful of lanes in the lower, arrival level of JWA's roadway will be closed through September as construction crews work on the safety of the pillars that reinforce the upper, departure level. Some white passenger pickup lanes and curb will also be narrowed during the construction period.

Instead of the roadway, drivers picking up passengers at the airport are encouraged to use the 2-hour parking spaces located on the lower level of Parking Structures A1, B2 and C while waiting for their arriving parties.

Along with the safety upgrades, the roadway pillars will also be wrapped according to the new Terminal A, B and C color schemes to better identify passenger pickup locations, officials said.
