40-Year CDM High School Reunion, Citizens' Police Academy, Restaurant Week

A list of things you need to know for Jan.11.

1. Save the date! The Corona del Mar High School class of 1972 is hosting its 40 Year Class Reunion on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at a discounted price before Feb. 1. The reunion will be held at the historic Balboa Pavillion, more information, photos and updates can be found at www.cdmhs1972.com.  

2. The Newport Beach Police Department is still accepting applications for the citizens' police academy. The free class starts Jan. 26 and was created to increase understanding of Police Department operations. Students will get an inside glimpse into routine police operations, including traffic stops and patrol ride-alongs. Classes meet Thursdays, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Newport Beach Police Department. Students must be at least 21, live or work in Newport Beach and have no felony convictions, outstanding warrants or pending ciminal cases. For more information or for an application, click here.

3. More than 50 restaurants throughout Newport Beach—including Five Crowns, The Crow Bar and Kitchen, Avila's El Ranchito and Summer House in Corona del Mar—are gearing up to participate in the Sixth Annual Newport Beach Restaurant Week. The culinary event kicks off Jan. 20 and runs through Jan. 29. The list of participants is a mix of new and returning Newport eateries. Get more details here.
