A Harbor Commission Meeting, a Coffee Fundraiser, Dress Donations

The five things you need to know for May 11.

1.  The Newport Beach Harbor Commission will meet today, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the council chambers, 3300 Newport Blvd. For more information, read the agenda here.

2.  If you're interested in casting a vote, all entries for the California Friendly Garden Contest have been submitted and it is now time to pick a winner. To vote for your favorite garden, visit  calfriendlygardencontest.com and click "Vote Now". The deadline to vote  for your favorite garden is Sunday, May 15.

3.  Don't forget! Now through October, the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is selling Orange County Blend Coffee and Orange County Sunshine Blend Tea, two blends exclusive to the O.C. area, at 24 locations throughout the county. The coffee is $9.95, and the tea is $8.95. For every bag of coffee or tea sold, the stores will donate $1 to a designated school. In Corona del Mar, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has partnered with Harbor View Elementary. Read for more information.

4.   Dress donations are still being accepted for wives of the 3rd Battallion, 5th Marine Regiment from Camp Pendleton. The Marines have been deployed in Afghanistan for seven months and will be returning home over the next several weeks. To celebrate their homecoming, the Marines will attend a ball in Las Vegas in June, but many of these couples  are unable to afford a dress for the formal event. Find out more about the fundraiser, and how you can donate a dress, by reading more in our story .

5.  Today will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid- 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
