5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 30

A holiday mixer, eBay and one cool kid!

1. The Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the holiday season tonight with a networking mixer and reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bungalow Restaurant. Contact the chamber for more information.

2. If you are looking to earn some extra cash for the holiday season, the Newport Beach Public Library can help. The class "How to Sell on eBay" will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the training room at the Central Library.

3. Today is the last day to nominate a student for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District's Starfish Award. The award was created to recognize students who have made a difference in the community. You can find the nomination form here.

4. Eighth-grader Max Woodyard from Corona del Mar Middle School recently wrote a letter to Volcom, as part of a class assignment, and inspired the company to donate items to Orangewood Children's Home. Read about his efforts here. Great job, Max!
