5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 14

Wine bottles, a cooking demonstration and father/daughter bowling.

1. Don't forget! Bottles of wine are still needed to help raise money for Corona del Mar High School's graduation party in June. The PTA is asking all CDM families to help by donating that extra bottle of wine you may have in your home. The wine will be used to make wine baskets for a parent fundraiser, and the money that is raised will help pay for the all-inclusive after-graduation party for the 2011 graduates. The goal is to provide a safe, non-driving venue for graduating seniors.  If you are interested, you can drop off your extra wine at 1824 Port Sheffield any day, or e-mailfabuliz@cox.net or 4callas@cox.net, and someone will pick it up from your doorstep.

2. Applications and essays are now being accepted for the Brad Evans' Memorial Scholarship. Two $1,000 awards are available to all Corona del Mar seniors who graduated from Harbor View Elementary. Completed applications are due by Friday, April 29. For an application, contact Lesa Hodgkins at 949-929-3893 or hodgieclan@aol.com.

3. On Tuesday, March 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., Chef Deborah Schneider of Sol Cocina will present a cooking demonstration at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. Schneider will also be signing and selling copies of her latest cookbook. To register for the event, call 949-644-3151.
