5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 11

Starbucks, a job club and a sobriety checkpoint.

1.  The OASIS Senior Job Club will meet today, from 8 to 9 a.m., in Room 3, to share experiences in the job market and to help job seekers. The group meets every Friday. Reservations are not required for this free activity.

2. Starbucks is celebrating its 40th anniversary by giving away one of its new Petites for free, with the purchase of a drink, today and tomorrow, March 12, from 2 to 5 p.m.  Make a stop at the location in CDM and try one of its sweet and savory treats. 

3. The Newport Beach Police Department will conduct a sobriety/driver's license checkpoint today, from 9 p.m. through 3 a.m. Saturday. The checkpoint will be on northbound Dover Drive at 16th Street.

4. This weekend, Roger's Gardens is celebrating the opening of its Victory Garden.  The event will take place tomorrow, March 12, and Sunday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Everyone in attendance will receive a free tomato plant grown exclusively from Roger's Gardens. 5.  Today will be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
