5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 28
A book discussion, road closures and Relay for Life.
1. Today, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Newport Beach Central Library will host Library Live with Katie Arnoldi, an author of three novels. Arnoldi's debut novel, Chemical Pink, launched her onto the bestsellers lists. This event is free, but donations are encouraged.
2. Don't forget! Keep an eye out for road closures associated with the O.C. Marathon on Sunday, May 1. The starting line for the full marathon and half-marathon will be on Newport Center Drive, just south of Santa Barbara in Newport Center. The race route includes portions of Newport Center, Corona del Mar, Irvine Avenue and Dover Shores. To read more on the parking and traffic control information click here.
3. On Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m., chef Mila Payne will be at Roger's Gardens, preparing recipes from her cookbooks. Don't miss this demonstration by one of Orange County's talented and entertaining chefs.

4. The OASIS FOO Fighters team is looking for more supporters at the 10th annual Newport Beach Relay for Life. The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and will take place on Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, at Newport Harbor High School.
