5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 21

A Planning Commission meeting, an Earth Day giveaway and a cloudy day.

1.  There will be a Planning Commission meeting today at 6:30 p.m. at the council chambers, 3300 Newport Blvd. Read the agenda here.

2. On Friday, April 22, Roger's Gardens will give every visitor a free USDA-certified organic herb or vegetable in celebration of Earth Day.

3. Don't forget! Now through October, the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is selling Orange County Blend Coffee and Orange County Sunshine Blend Tea, two blends exclusive to the O.C. area, at 24 locations throughout the county. The coffee is $9.95, and the tea is $8.95. For every bag of coffee or tea sold, the stores will donate $1 to a designated school. In Corona del Mar, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has partnered with Harbor View Elementary.

4.  The deadline to enter your California Friendly Garden in the Roger's Garden contest has now been extended to Sunday, May 1. Judges will award a $1,500 grand prize to the garden that best demonstrates California Friendly elements. To find out more information, click here.

5.  Today will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
