1 Bicyclist, 2 Drivers Arrested at DUI Checkpoint

More than 500 cars, and one bike, passed through Friday's checkpoint on Dover Drive and 16th Street.

Two drivers and one bicyclist were arrested at a DUI checkpoint last week in Newport Beach, a police official reported Tuesday.

A total of 530 vehicles, and one bicyclist, passed through the checkpoint Friday at Dover Drive and 16th Street, which started at 9 p.m. and ran through 3 a.m, according to Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman.

Of those, four drivers and the bicyclist were screened. Five citations were handed out for invalid driver's licenses and other violations. Two drivers and one bicyclist were arrested for drunken driving.
