XpresSpa Opens at John Wayne Airport

A new business is now offering travelers at John Wayne Airport quick, luxury services before they hop on a plane.

XpresSpa, which operates 55 locations worldwide including one at Los Angeles International Airport, opened for business on Nov. 1 in JWA's Terminal B.  XpresSpa is JWA's only full-service spa offering relaxing massages, manicures/pedicures, waxing, facials and hair styling services. Jenny Wedge, airport spokeswoman, said travelers arrive at the airport for their flights earlier than they used to and may be more likely to take advantage of the new service.

"While the spa offers services that may be considered a luxury to some, there are a wide range of offerings from mani/pedi, 20-minute facials to a quick trim in the barber chair," Wedge said. "Depending on how much time the passenger has, the time for a spa service can be flexible to their needs."

XpresSpa set up shop in an open space previously held by another vendor. Wedge said the airport wanted to fill the spot with a "specialty concession.

"We have a significant amount of new food and retail (news and gift) shops so this needed to be something a bit different," Wedge said.

Along with XpresSpa, Brookstone also opened earlier this month at JWA, offering a wide variety of lifestyle travel gadgets.

The new stores are part of JWA's Airport Improvement Program which has brought more than 30 new retailers and food options to the airport including California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, Sunglass Hut, Ruby's Diner and Ruby's Diner To Go, Pinkberry, CNBC News Express and CNN Newsstand.
