TSA PreCheck Lands at John Wayne Airport

Airport officials say the new Pre-Check program enhances security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals.

Some passengers traveling through John Wayne Airport are getting through the security screening process a bit faster thanks to a new program.

Select passengers are now being screened through the Transportation Security Administration's Pre-Check program at the Terminal A Security Checkpoint. John Pistole, TSA administrator, says JWA is the 35th U.S. airport to get the Pre-Check program which was created to expedite the security screening process.

"Benefits to members of TSA Pre-Check include being able to leave shoes, light outerwear and belts on, keeping laptops in cases and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in a carry-on bag," Jenny Wedge, airport spokeswoman, said in a released statement.

TSA Pre-Check , which was unveiled last month, was designed to enhance security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate prior to flying in order to potentially expedite checkpoint screening.

The TSA Pre-Check lane is available for a select number of approved Alaska, American, Delta, United, and US Airways passengers, many of whom are frequent fliers.
