Take a World Tour ... Through Corona del Mar

No need to pack your bags. The world awaits in the village.

Corona del Mar is Spanish for "crown of the sea," but little slices of the rest of the world can also be found in various shops and restaurants along Coast Highway. 

England - and Sidedoor are perfect destinations if you're needing to feel like royalty. Both restaurants offer authentic English cuisine and pub food in a charming environment that William and Kate would feel at home in. 

Mexico - Avila's El Ranchito has a fun atmosphere. Its happy hour is awesome; there are $5 margaritas and free appetizers, which include buffalo wings, quesadillas and tacos.

France - Where can you find rare and fabulous antiques from France and other parts of Europe? At Owned by interior designer Elizabeth Foote, this antique gallery has stunning pieces from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. It has all types of antiques, including fireplaces, clocks, silver and desks. 

After you have exerted yourself antiquing, stop by ("breads of the world") and try some of its delectable French pastries. Owner Scott McVean spent two months at a French bed and breakfast, which inspired him to open up his first shop on Balboa Island. Pain du Monde also has tasty scones, sandwiches and coffee.

Greece - Decorate your home with Greek columns from . Its mosaic tiles, ancient jars, fountain and other home decor items are breathtaking and will transport your home to another part of the world. 

Italy - It wouldn't feel like Italy in CDM if it weren't for such highly rated pizza shops as and . Both of the eateries are filled with authentic Italian gourmet pizzas, such as Gina's Godfather meat pizza and Pizza Royale's the Light Stuff pizza, with tomato and basil. Pizza Royale also serves cannolis and Italian pastries. 

Vietnam/Thailand - Owner Chau Dang Haller is the youngest daughter in a three-generation family of restaurateurs. Her healthy menus of Vietnam cuisine are well priced and very tasty. is a small restaurant that serves exceptional, well-priced Thai food for eat-in or takeout. Its Thai barbecue ribs are to die for.  

Korea - Tae kwon do is a popular form of martial arts that began in Korea, where it is also the national sport. There are two studios in CdM: and . Both teach traditional methods. 

Middle East - hosts Persian Night every Sunday evening. It has live music from Ahmad Nabizadeh, playing Persian pop and folk hits. Globally inspired cuisine includes tapas, kebabs and Persian dishes. 

India - If you haven't been to the Sunday champagne brunch at , you are missing out on a memorable meal. The all-inclusive brunch is only $20 and includes the highlights of Indian food: tikka masala, naan, rice and, of course, champagne.
