Pizza Shop Raising Funds for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Newport Beach's Original Pizza is donating 20 percent of Tuesday's sales to a New York neighborhood devastated by Superstorm Sandy.

Relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Sandy are underway across the country, as well as right here in Newport Beach.

A fundraiser is being held today through 10 p.m. at the Original Pizza locations at 2121 W. Balboa Blvd. in Newport Beach, and 2675 Irvine Ave. in Costa Mesa. The pizza parlor will donate 20 percent of the today's sales to the Rockaway Beach Relief Fund which will provide support for a New York neighborhood severely damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

Lisa Laretti, who was having a slice of pizza for lunch Tuesday at the Newport Beach location, says she was happy to learn about Original Pizza's efforts.

"I think everyone should be helping in some way," Laretti told Patch. "I eat here at least twice a month and the fact that they have stepped up to help will make me come here even more."
