Newport Dunes Facebook Contest: What Are You Thankful For?

The video essay contest is for grade-school kids. One lucky winner will receive a $1,000 U.S. savings bond.

It's November, the time of year when we reflect a little more about the things we are thankful for in life.

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort is hosting its first annual "What do you have to be thankful for?" contest on Facebook. The resort is encouraging grade-school children to submit a one-minute video or written essay, explaining what they are most thankful for in life.

"With this essay contest, our goal is to inspire children to examine their lives and really think about what they have to be thankful for," said Andrew Theodorou, the resort's executive vice president. "We greatly look forward to hearing what it is that makes each child's life special."
