Island Hotel Hires Culinary Duo

David Man has been named executive chef and Joseph Orichiella named food and beverage director of the Newport Beach hotel.

The Island Hotel has added two veterans of the hospitality industry to its award-winning establishment.

David Man was recently appointed as executive chef and Joseph Orichiella named food and beverage director, according to a news release. Rick Evanich, the hotel's managing director, says the duo was carefully selected to create and implement a new direction for the hotel's culinary and food and beverage teams.

“They will be instrumental in helping us redefine and elevate the hotel’s luxury dining experience, including the enhancement of current offerings, expanding our core business and creating new opportunities for their teams and our visitors,” Evanich said in a released statement.

Man previously served as chef de cuisine and then executive sous chef at the Island Hotel. He has returned to oversee all culinary operations.

Orichiella will be in charge of approximately 140 employees, the operations of the property’s dining venues and all banquet needs for the 22,000 square feet of meeting facilities. In addition, he will be responsible for the hotel’s in-room dining and other special programs including the hotel’s recently launched express lunch menus.

The Island Hotel is a AAA Five Diamond 295-room property that sits on five acres in Newport Center.
