John Wayne Airport Offers Nonstop Service to Mexico

Nonstop flights are now offered daily to Cabo San Lucas and Mexico City.

John Wayne Airport recently debuted its daily service to Cabo San Lucas and Mexico City, officials announced.

Southwest Airlines subsidiary AirTran Airways launched the service earlier this month between Orange County and Cabo San Lucas and between Orange County and Mexico City, according to a press release.

Alejandra Garcia Williams, Consul of Mexico, says the new service is a great addition to Orange County.

"Of the three million residents in Orange County, nearly one million are Mexican and Latin American," Williams said in a released statement. "These flights are going to help promote additional tourism, as well as trade, between our countries they will be very popular."

The new flights to Mexico bring the airport's daily nonstop service to 53 flights departing from Orange County, Monday through Friday.
