A 19-story tower will soon accompany the Irvine Co.'s headquarters on Newport Center Drive, company officials announced in a news release.
The 300,000-square-foot office building will be located at 520 Newport Center Drive and stand 19 stories tall. Construction on the new addition is scheduled to begin early next year and expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
The growth of the Irvine Co. follows a list of expansion projects at Fashion Island which include upgraded fountains and outdoor seating, the addition of 40 new stores and restaurants and construction of the Newport Beach Civic Center.
“Similar to PIMCO, which is expanding their Newport Center presence with the building of their new headquarters at 650 Newport Center Drive, our long-term desire is to maintain our corporate headquarters and operations here in Newport Center,” Donald Bren, Irvine Co. chairman, said in the statement.
The building was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects of New York. According to the news release, the 19-story building was included in Architect William Pereira’s original 1960s Irvine Ranch master plan.
