How Disneyland Gave Birth to Doritos
A batch of discarded tortillas became a surprise hit at the park's Casa de Fritos restaurant in the early 1960s.

The accidental invention is Orange County's only true claim to fame in the rise of Mexican food in the United States, according to author Gustavo Arellano's new book, Taco USA, which is excerpted in OC Weekly.
As Arellano tells it, the birth of Doritos took place in Frontierland, at Casa de Fritos, a Mexican restaurant originally located near Aunt Jemima's Pancake House.
