Hoag Hospital is encouraging community members to stop by its health center before the month is over to help save a life and indulge in some goodies at the same time.
Blood donations are taken Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Hoag Health Center, 510 Superior Ave., Suite 130. Anyone who donates blood or platelets this month will receive a free movie ticket and ice cream treat. Hoag spokeswoman Meghan Voisinet says the great thing about donating at the health center is that it will benefit the local community.
"Each unit of blood donated goes directly to a patient at Hoag," she said. "And one unit of blood can benefit up to three individuals."
