Don't Throw Out Old Christmas Lights, Recycle Them!

Trying to untangle old Christmas lights is a drag, but a new recycling program is hoping to make that task a little easier.

This holiday season, and 1-800-GOT-SCRAP is offering a $5 gift certificate --redeemable for purchases over $20--to customers who recycle old Christmas lights.

Mark Schulein, owner of 17 Crown-Ace stores in Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties, says getting rid of old lights in exchange for new ones is more energy efficient and safer because "each year, many homeowners lose their homes due to fires caused by faulty holiday lights.”
