Cockroaches Shut Down American Junkie

American Junkie in Newport Beach was closed Tuesday after county health inspectors found cockroaches crawling around.

American Junkie in Newport Beach was closed this week by county health officials after inspectors found cockroaches at the restaurant.

During a routine inspection on Tuesday, American Junkie was cited with two major health violations and four minor health violations. According to the health report, inspectors found live cockroaches under the dish machine, in an inoperable sink and dead cockroaches on the floor.

County health inspectors will reinspect American Junkie after the owners get rid of the cockroaches and sanitize the restaurant.

American Junkie is located at 2406 Newport Blvd. in Newport Beach.
