A cockroach infestation closed a coffee house in Newport Beach last week.

Health inspectors visited Kean Coffee, at 2043 Westcliff Drive, March 26 and discovered:

  • Two dead adult cockroaches in the cabinet under the front freezer
  • Two live adult cockroaches and three nymph cockroaches in the cabinet under the front freezer
  • One live adult and two nymph cockroaches in the food storage cabinet next to the front freezer
  • One nymph cockroach on the panel behind the blenders

The inspectors also cited for eight minor violations, including improper holding temperatures for food – in this case milk and creamers –unsanitary equipment and small flies.

The coffee house was allowed to reopen later that day when it got rid of the cockroaches.

I see these problems all the time! Good neighborhoods are not exempt from cockroach problems. The greenest pest control company in So California, Hearts Pest Management, http://www.heartspm.com has multiple methods for dealing with these problems, including non-chemical methods. Early and frequent inspections and communication with restaurant owners is imperative.
