Alert: Freeway Ramp Squeezed Leading into John Wayne Airport

The ramp from the south 55 Freeway leading into John Wayne Airport is temporarily reduced to one lane to make way for a seismic retrofitting project.

If you're planning on driving to or from John Wayne Airport this month, be prepared for slight delays on the south 55 Freeway.

The ramp leading into JWA from the south 55 Freeway was reduced to one lane today, and will remain squeezed through Saturday, Sept. 15. The lane closure was necessary to allow a work crew to continue work on a seismic retrofitting project.

According to airport officials, all passengers will be directed to the Departure/Upper Level roadway as they enter the airport. Drivers wanting to pick up passengers on the Arrival/Lower Level may continue to do so, but will first need to take the airport return loop to get to the lower level.
